Title: Properties of Poly(Alkylene Carbonate) polymers and their uses in industrial applications

Speaker: Sugianto Hanggodo, Director of Engineering @ Empower Materials

Abstract:

QPAC® Poly(Alkylene Carbonate) is a thermoplastic polymer.  While traditional plastics are primarily petrochemical based, PAC polymers are produced through the copolymerization of CO2 with one or more epoxides.  This sustainable polymer was initially developed to replace other non-sustaining polymers in primarily film applications.   However, its unique adhesion and decomposition properties have resulted in its main application being as a temporary binder for ceramic, glass and metal powders. This presentation talks about PAC polymers and its uses in industrial application.

Bio:

Sugianto Hanggodo is the Director of Engineering of Empower Materials. He has been with the company for more than 20 years. Empower Materials produces the QPAC® line of carbon dioxide-based polymers, Poly(Alkylene Carbonate). QPAC® is the world’s cleanest, thermally decomposable polymers. Before joining Empower Materials, Sugianto worked under the supervision of Dr. Choi for his Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering (1997).  He received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Finance in 1993 from the University of Maryland at College Park.
