The Black/African-American Experience in Aerospace Engineering Join us for a panel of UMD Aerospace Engineering alumni sharing their experiences as Black/African-American students and professionals, their perspective on the current state of the world, and discussion of how the Aerospace Engineering community can be better allies to our Black/African-American community. Download event flyer [PDF] Like many, we in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at UMD are deeply troubled by the issues of racial injustice that continue to harm our communities, country, and world. We've been paying particular attention to the protests and the #BlackLivesMatterMovement, and we feel it is important as a community to do more. College campuses are a critical nexus in civil movements and protests, but given the COVID-19 world we are currently living in, it has restricted the ability of colleges and universities to get involved in a more tangible way. In order to overcome these unique challenges, we feel it's important that we provide virtual opportunities for our students to learn and get involved. Our hope is that this panel discussion will be the first of a series of conversations focused on diversity and social justice for our AE community at UMD. Panelists Include:
