Physics Careeer Seminar

Amir Jahromi, Ph.D.
NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center

Learn about careers following a Ph.D. in this seminar series.

Dr. Jahromi received his Ph.D. in Low Temperature Physics from the University of Wisconsin in 2015, with a dissertation based on the development of a novel proof-of-concept superfluid magnetic pump for use in sub-Kelvin refrigeration systems for space science applications. He joined NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center’s Cryogenics and Fluids branch in early 2012 and has worked on various R&D projects and supported flight projects including the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST), Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), and L’Ralph (aboard Lucy).

Amir is an expert in sub-Kelvin refrigeration systems, and will be involved in developing the next generation of a Continuous ADR capable of lifting 3 uW at 35 mK with a continuous intermediate stage at 700 mK.
