Matt joined Sikorsky in 2003, and since that time has held roles of increasing responsibility in Engineering, Programs, Innovations and Strategy. In 2004, Matt led the sizing and performance characterization of the X2 Technology™ Demonstrator, which was awarded the prestigious Collier Trophy in 2011. In 2006, Matt joined the Commercial Programs organization as a Program Manager for the S-92® Program and went in-country to deliver head-of-state helicopters for the President of South Korea. In 2008, Matt joined the newly formed Sikorsky Innovations organization to lead development of new commercial products.
Matt was appointed Chief Engineer of Sikorsky Innovations in 2012, and during his tenure in this role helped to grow technology investments in the areas of autonomy, intelligence and efficiency and was awarded a number of key patents. In 2014, Matt took on a new role as the Manager of Product Strategy and during his brief tenure in that position, helped to establish a product strategy function to guide product investments that are focused on enhancing organic growth. In late 2014, Matt became the Director of iNtelligent Technologies, Analytics and Sustainability. In this role he has responsibility for developing advanced technologies, providing systematic analysis of operational data, and providing technical solutions and support aimed at enhancing customer value by improving safety, availability and functionality.
Matt was born in Australia and is a graduate of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, where he received a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering. He moved to the United States in 1999 to pursue a graduate degree from the University of Maryland Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Center of Excellence, where he received a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He is a beneficiary of the prestigious AIAA Foundation Orville and Wilbur Wright Award which is awarded for significant research contributions to the field of aerospace engineering.
