Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) is the U.S. subsidiary of Italian enterprise Fincantieri S.p.A., one of the world’s largest shipbuilders. FMG employees more than 2,500 in the U.S., and is creating an additional 1,000 jobs over the next two years in support of the $5.5.B contract to build the new class of frigates for the U.S. Navy.
Fincantieri Marine Group is comprised of three Wisconsin shipyards, an office in Green Bay (WI), an office in Virginia, offices in Florida, and a corporate headquarters in Washington D.C.
Fincantieri employs more than 1,000 engineers worldwide, including over 100 in the United States. The company has a wide portfolio of proven ship designs, including those of VARD Marine, a recent Fincantieri acquisition, specializing in the offshore supply and support market. Fincantieri has recently completed a $300 million capital expansion program for its U.S. shipyards; including additional computer-aided ship manufacturing equipment, new climate-controlled facilities and a U.S. Navy-certified floating dry-dock.

FMG is also adamant that sustainability will be a factor in all activities, much like it is with the parent company, Fincantieri S.p.A.. Two of the Wisconsin shipyards recently received “Green Marine” certification.
These improvements have transformed FMG into a shipbuilding powerhouse, uniquely positioned to provide cost-effective solutions to new construction, repair and conversion challenges for both government and commercial markets.

During the Information Session, students will learn about Fincantieri business, new and ongoing contracts, innovation efforts, sustainable culture, and job positions. Specifically, several videos will be shown where Fincantieri products and technologies are highlighted. A few slides will address Fincantieri’s presence in the World and in the USA, with particular emphasis on our unique ‘system of yards. The design and construction of the next generation of guided-missile frigates, one of the most strategic projects for the US Navy, will be presented and thoroughly discussed. To conclude, we will show job opportunities, some financial information, and our tireless effort in building sustainable shipyards.
