We will have representatives from the local METOC command and NOAA to discuss civilian career opportunities and give a brief presentation of our impact to safeguarding our military, leading change, and having an impact on everyday life. Recruiters with various disciplines will be available for networking and questions.
Naval Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC)
Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command directs and oversees more than 2,500 globally-distributed civilian and uniformed personnel who collect, process and exploit environmental information to assist Fleet and Joint Commanders in all warfare areas to make better decisions faster than the adversary. We are the Department of Defense's authoritative source for characterization, and applying data, of the physical-battlespace for warfighting advantages.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
The NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps (NOAA Corps) is one of the nation’s eight uniformed services. NOAA Corps officers are an integral part of NOAA, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and serve with the special trust and confidence of the President.
With approximately 330 officers and growing, the NOAA Corps supports nearly all of NOAA’s programs and missions. The combination of commissioned service and scientific expertise makes these officers uniquely capable of leading some of NOAA’s most important initiatives, including oceanographic, fisheries, hydrographic, atmospheric, and meteorological missions.
