The University of Maryland (UMD) Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Research and Operations Center is dedicated to facilitating the safe and effective use of UAS in research and educational settings for University faculty and students; providing expert technical and operational support to public and private entities employing UAS in new and innovative ways; and to advancing the state of the art in UAS and their seamless integration into the National Airspace System.

This position reports to the UAS Chief Pilot and works closely with the Lead Project Engineer. The incumbent is responsible for supporting field research operations including the airworthiness review and maintenance of all systems, data collection and storage, sensor and hardware/software integration, and other support areas assigned in support of UROC requirements. Additionally, this position serves as a Visual Observer (VO) and Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) for UAS Operations.
